It's been a big month for Tepeyac Senior, Valeria Hernandez. She is just two short months away from graduation and has some big decisions to make! Valeria's four years of hard work, leadership and studying have paid off with acceptances into Villanova University, the University of Michigan, Loyola University of Chicago and more.
Valeria would like to study Nursing. She is most interested in Villanova but will be waiting to hear about her financial aid package. "I need to get enough to help pay for my tuition," she reports. The College Readiness Director will assist Valeria and her mother as they consider all of her options and financial aid packages. Valeria, along with her older sister are the first in their generation to attend college. Other aspects that are important to Valeria include "diversity on campus and finding the support and attention I need." She was encouraged to apply by our faculty member, Emily Curtis, who is a Villanova grad.
Our College Readiness Program also introduced Valeria to Chicago Scholars . Chicago Scholars provided for additional application and essay feedback as well as the opportunity for an onsite interview with Villanova and U of M right here in Chicago.
A Tepeyac education has opened doors for Valeria. We are thrilled that colleges & universities are recognizing how hard our young women work and the value that they will add to the student body. Valeria- we know you will succeed at whatever college is lucky enough to have you!
