Position Overview
The Campus Minister at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School plays a central role in nurturing students’ spiritual growth and strengthening the school’s Catholic identity. Rooted in the mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and supported by the Big Shoulders Fund, the Campus Minister integrates faith, Catholic Social Teaching, and social justice into all aspects of school life. Through liturgies, retreats, service-learning, and leadership development, the Campus Minister fosters a vibrant, multicultural faith community where young women are formed as compassionate, faith-driven leaders committed to justice and service.

This position reports to the Vice President of Mission and Engagement and to the Principal for teaching responsibilities.

 


Key Responsibilities

Liturgical Planning & Faith Formation

  • Plan inclusive, student-led Masses, prayer services, and school-wide celebrations of liturgical seasons and Catholic holy days (e.g., All Saints Day, Ash Wednesday, Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe).
  • Guide students in incorporating themes of justice, human dignity, and cultural traditions into worship.
  • Collaborate with student leaders to ensure diverse voices, music, and reflections are represented in prayer experiences.
  • Ensure Catholic identity is intentionally woven throughout school life, fostering a culture of prayer, reflection, and faith in action.

Retreat Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate grade-level retreats centered on faith, justice, leadership, and community:
    • Freshwomen: One-day, on-campus community-building retreat
    • Sophomores: Service-focused day with guided reflection
    • Juniors: Overnight retreat
    • Seniors: Kairos retreat (four nights)
  • Design retreat experiences that honor the multicultural identities of Tepeyac students and encourage reflection on faith, identity, and leadership.

Service-Learning Program

  • Oversee the school’s service-learning program, ensuring students meaningfully connect faith to action in the community.
  • Develop partnerships with local organizations that reflect Tepeyac’s neighborhood and Catholic values.
  • Guide student reflection on service experiences, with attention to justice, human dignity, and systemic change.
  • Support MobileServe tracking of service hours and help coordinate the annual Day of Giving, framing service as a response to faith.

Campus Ministry Leadership Team (CMLT)

  • Lead and mentor the Campus Ministry Leadership Team, empowering a diverse group of students to serve as faith leaders and advocates.
  • Organize an in-school leadership retreat focused on leadership development, service, and Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Facilitate weekly CMLT meetings centered on prayer, leadership formation, and planning faith-based school events.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach the Senior Service Project course, guiding students through service projects that address systemic injustice and reflect Catholic values of human dignity and solidarity.
  • Teach two sections of Theology to Juniors.

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church, Catholic education, social justice, and culturally responsive ministry.
  • Experience working with adolescents in educational, ministerial, or service settings preferred.

Salary Range
$44,000–$48,000
